Best hush puppies ever? Possibly. I loved the hush puppies and had fried haddock. It was pretty amazing as well. Fresh hot food for a decent price is something that I love to find. Haven't been on the east coast much but they did everything right down to the coleslaw. I would definitely go back. Coleslaw not pictured because I devoured it quickly.
Overview
Walking into Boomerangs Original Ribs & Seafood feels like stepping into a place where locals actually eat, not just somewhere built for passing traffic. The diner sits at 13820 Solomons Island Rd, Solomons, MD 20688, United States, and it has that unmistakable roadside energy-parking lot chatter, the smell of smoked meat in the air, and servers who greet repeat customers by name. Iβve stopped here more times than I can count after fishing trips and weekend drives, and the experience has stayed consistent in the ways that matter.
The menu leans hard into comfort food done right. Their ribs are the headline act, slow-cooked until the meat pulls clean from the bone, finished with a house sauce that balances sweet and smoke without drowning the pork. A pitmaster I once spoke to here explained that the ribs are cooked low and slow for hours, rested properly, then sauced at the end-no shortcuts. That attention shows. According to USDA guidelines on barbecue cooking methods, proper low-temperature smoking helps preserve moisture while breaking down connective tissue, which explains the tenderness people rave about in reviews.
Seafood plays an equally important role. The crab cakes are packed with lump meat and very little filler, a detail that matters in Maryland. Iβve ordered them alongside fried shrimp and flounder, and the coating stays crisp without overpowering the fish. The kitchen follows FDA seafood handling recommendations, which reduces risk and keeps flavors clean-something not every casual diner manages. You can taste the difference when oil is fresh and temperatures are controlled.
What stands out beyond the food is how the place operates. Orders come out fast, but not rushed. On busy nights, youβll see the staff moving in sync, calling tickets clearly and double-checking plates before they hit the table. That kind of workflow mirrors practices recommended by the National Restaurant Association for reducing errors and maintaining consistency during peak hours. Itβs not flashy, but it works.
The dining room has a laid-back, family-friendly feel. Booths are worn in the good way, walls dotted with local memorabilia, and the crowd is a mix of boaters, construction crews, and families grabbing dinner after games. One server once told me their goal is simple: make sure nobody leaves hungry or disappointed. Judging by online reviews and the steady stream of regulars, theyβre hitting that mark.
Portion sizes are generous, especially for the price. When inflation has pushed restaurant costs up nationwide-Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows food-away-from-home prices rising steadily-this spot has managed to keep value front and center. You often hear diners say bolded words like best ribs in the county or worth the drive, and while taste is subjective, the consistency backs up those claims.
Locations matter with diners like this, and being right on Solomons Island Road makes it an easy stop whether youβre local or visiting the area. Itβs not trying to reinvent anything. Instead, it sticks to familiar flavors, solid processes, and genuine hospitality. The only limitation worth noting is space; during peak dinner hours, waits can happen, especially on weekends. Still, most people Iβve talked to agree itβs time well spent when the food lands hot and exactly as expected.
Menu variety, reliable service, and years of positive word-of-mouth have earned this diner a loyal following. From ribs that fall apart just right to seafood that respects local standards, it delivers an experience that feels honest and earned, the kind of place you recommend without hesitation when someone asks where to eat nearby.

Traveling from Florida to New York on the water. So happy we stopped at Solomans Yachting Center, we Saw Boomerangs and could smell the delicious food from outside. Highly recommend making your way here and making a pit stop to see this nice town. Dana, Shawna, and Drew were so nice and gave such a good choice of food for our first time here. We arrived today for our travels, leaving tomorrow, but now will be coming back in October feeling like family! Thank you again, very nice restaurant Bill! From Christopher / Cooper and Tatou
Boomerangs has the best ribs around town here by far. From the outside street view you may just drive by it and not stop as there's no views like you would get on Solomons Island. Do not be fooled by the looks and do yourself a favor and check it out. This place is small but cranks out great food. I will say the day I visited there was an odd smell that I could not tell what it was but other than that it was fantastic. We had the hush puppies, crab dip & bacon & ranch fries. All came out hot and tasty impressive start. Full racks were ordered and split among those that ordered and robs were fsll off the bone tender, juicy but bit saucy so if you dont like that maybe ask for them dry. The chocolate cake at the end for dad's 84th birthday was also fabulous. Other than that odd smell, which made me skeptical at first, we all were very happy and full when we left.
This place has been a staple for me at least. Really good comfort food and by far the best ribs (in my opinion) on the eastern seaboard! Food is top notch every single time, highly recommend coming to this joint whenever you feel like it.
The customer service hostess was wonderful. Always checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed, stayed open past closing time to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Please visit every time you're on Solomons Island you will not be disappointed.
Absolute BEST old fashioned Iβve ever had. Service is great. Havenβt had anything I didnβt like. Really like this spot a lot
My new favorite breakfast place in southern Maryland! This spot is a gem!! We had a little wait because we wanted a booth instead of high top table. Our service was great. Our witness was really kind, attentive and helpful. My entire family enjoyed their meals. I tried the carrot cake pancakes, scrambled eggs, home fries and sausage. It was outstanding! My pancakes were perfection. The sausage was the thick real sausage and soooo good!! The home fries were hearty and well seasoned. My eggs, I asked for cheese and they just melted a slice over the top of the eggs. I would have preferred the cheese scrambled within the egg. But overall excellent! One of my daughters got the chocolate chip pancakes and she loved them! Other daughter got chicken and waffles. She said it was really good! Both looked like they were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the cream chip beef over Texas toast. It was just soo good that he ordered seconds!! ( yep two orders ) We all left full and satisfied and agreed that we will be back. The breakfast was so good that I want to check out lunch and dinner soon.
